Publishing & Partners

Sangster's Book Stores has also had a hand in publishing since 1968 when Ferdie Sangster embarked into the publishing business thus helping to provide some of the books so badly needed by Jamaica. Assisting in the venture was Collins, a British publishing firm well known as Wm. Collins and Sons Ltd. It was with their help that Collins-Sangster officially Wm. Collins and Sangster (Jamaica) Limited was born.

The combination gave the island and the Caribbean, and several of their markets too, a number of textbooks and books of interest to general readers. There are such titles as "Mirror, Mirror" by Rex Nettleford, "The Life of J.J. Mills" edited by R.N. Murray and the local thriller, "The Candywine Development" by John Morris to name a few.

The company also reprinted a number of popular and important books to Jamaica including "Personality and Conflict in Jamaica" by Madeline Kerr, which was originally published by the Liverpool University Press in 1952 and revised in 1963.

This is our contribution in helping to build the nation.
